in K-State Donors by Eric Holderness on May 19th, 2010

Head Football Coach Bill Snyder and Director of Athletics John Currie had the privilege of accepting a gift from Larry Wiggins and Joan Wiggins Goodknight for an endowed football scholarship, given in honor of their late father, George. George played football at K-State in the early 1930’s, went on to serve in the U.S. Army and passed away in a Japanese prison camp after being captured during World War II. We sincerely thank the Wiggins family for their contribution and commitment to our student-athletes.

Priority Point Application

in K-State Donors by Eric Holderness on April 21st, 2010

The K-State Athletics Priority Points system was created to more equitably serve all Ahearn Fund members. Priority Points rank helps determine initial season-ticket placement and the distribution of tickets to high-demand events such as bowl games, Big 12 Championships and NCAA Tournaments. Additionally, Priority Points ranking is used for parking and seating upgrades for season-tickets and other special events.

Priority Points are accumulated as follows:
3 Points per $100 of annual gifts made after 2009 to the Ahearn Fund as well as Capital Campaign gifts. (Includes GIK)
2 Points per $100 of annual gifts made from 2000-2009
-Annual gifts includes: Ahearn, Ahearn-Football, Ahearn-Men’s Basketball, Ahearn-Women’s Basketball, Ahearn-Loge Box, West Club, West Suite, East Chairback, and East Suite.
2 Points per $100 of restricted gifts to Ahearn Fund
-Examples of Restricted gifts: Golden Cats, Diamond Cats, and Legends Membership

1 Point per season ticket (Football, Volleyball, Men’s & Women’s Basketball, Baseball)
                Points are cumulative since 2000
 Example of Priority Point Application
During the most recent tournament run by the men’s basketball team, members of the Ahearn Fund were able to request tickets to specific NCAA tournament venues where the Wildcats could potentially have played. Once the NCAA tournament selection committee assigned the team to the Oklahoma City tournament site, the Ahearn Fund and ticket office staff cooperatively contacted those individuals who had requested tickets at the Ford Center. Because K-State was only allotted 550 tickets for the event, the donors who had amassed the highest amount of Priority Points before December 31, 2009 were the first to receive tickets. Additionally, higher ranked donors were assigned tickets for the more premium seats of those allotted to K-State. Further explanation of how tickets to the Oklahoma City NCAA event were assigned is shown below.
During the first round of the NCAA Tournament in Oklahoma City, Kansas State was allotted a total of 550 tickets which were distributed to those donors who had requested tickets at the venue. Of the donors that requested tickets at the Ford Center, those with more than 1862 Priority Points were seated in the lower level seats of the arena. Ahearn Fund members with points ranging from 584-1861 were seated in the upper level of the arena. Ahearn Fund members with less than 584 Priority Points did not receive thickets through the K-State allotment.
