Athletics Director John Currie

On behalf of K-State Athletics, I want to sincerely thank you for your support of the Ahearn Fund this past year. I am continually amazed by the generosity of the K-State family and your commitment to helping K-State achieve the vision of becoming a model intercollegiate athletics program.

The unrestricted dollars given by over 9,000 members of the Ahearn Fund are the life-blood of K-State Athletics. This collective commitment has provided us the flexibility to make strategic investments in the very things that offer a world-class experience for all of our 440-plus student-athletes. From facilities improvements to adding support staff personnel in academic services, we are as committed as you to ensuring that we continue to strive for championships in the classroom and on the field of play.

K-State has had another outstanding academic year in 2012-13. The Wildcats saw 73 current or former student-athletes earn degrees in 2012-13 while a total of 236 earned Big 12 Commissioner’s honor roll accolades this spring, the most on the list since 2008.

In addition, a total of 95 Wildcat student-athletes earned Academic All-Big 12 recognition in all sports during the 2012-13 athletic season, while women’s basketball player Brittany Chambers, Men’s Baseball outfielder Jared King, and Petra Niedermayerova from women’s tennis all earned the inaugural Big 12 Scholar Athlete of the Year award in their respective sports.

On the field, K-State became just the second Big 12 school and fourth BCS program since the BCS era began in 1998 to win league championships in football, men’s basketball and baseball in the same academic year, joining Stanford (1999-2000), Texas (2005-06) and Louisville (2012-13). It also became the first Big 12 School to win coach of the year honors in football, men’s basketball and baseball in the same season.

There is no better time for the collective commitment of the K-State family to continue, and as you consider your 2014 annual Ahearn Fund gift, please know every dollar makes an impact. Our staff looks forward to answering any questions that you may have regarding membership in the Ahearn Fund, seating or parking and would also be honored to visit with you in person.

We look forward to the 2013-14 athletics season, and with your support, continue achieving our goal of being a model intercollegiate athletics program. Please join us.

Go 'Cats!
